Ventura, CA – VetSurg, the only locally owned 100% board-certified veterinary surgical center in Southern California, has announced the addition of Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, Dr. Hilary Ludwig DVM, Diplomate ACVS-SA. With the addition of Dr. Ludwig, the VetSurg team has grown to three board-certified surgeons, including Dr. Rebecca Webb BVSc, MS, MANZCVS, Diplomate ACVS-SA, and VetSurg founder, Dr. Ian Gordon Holsworth BVSc, MANZCVS, and Diplomate ACVS-SA.
Together, with an experienced and dedicated team comprised of Registered Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Administrative staff, VetSurg will soon be operating out of a new 13,000 square foot state-of-the-art surgical center on Market Street in Ventura with excellent location visibility and freeway access.
“Since the opening of VetSurg in 2015, it has been my goal to provide safe, effective, and thoughtful care for the veterinary community,” said Dr. Ian Gordon Holsworth. “With the addition of Dr. Ludwig, VetSurg has three dedicated boarded surgeons whose goals align to provide the community’s pets with the best veterinary surgical care possible.”
Dr. Holsworth has dedicated his career to providing comprehensive, advanced surgical care to the communities’ pets and to educating the veterinary surgeons of tomorrow. The new surgical center has been designed and constructed from the ground up with those intentions in mind. The new facility will also be an advanced teaching and training center for surgeons and veterinary professionals.
Dr. Ludwig is an experienced surgeon with strengths in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, focusing on minimally invasive surgery, brachycephalic airway syndrome, and surgical oncology. Dr. Ludwig earned a B.S. in Zoology from Oklahoma University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a small animal and surgery rotating internship at the University of Georgia, followed by a residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where she performed research on canine platelet rich plasma and feline renal transplantation. Following her residency, she became an examined Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). “I have dedicated myself, my education, and my career to caring for our small animal friends,” said Dr. Hilary Ludwig DVM, Diplomate ACVS-SA, “It’s rewarding to be part of this dedicated and caring team. Within a few months, VetSurg will move from its current location to 4839 Market Street, Ventura. The new veterinary surgical center is being built for VetSurg to provide the best minimally invasive veterinary orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries in the region. The surgical center will be outfitted with four operating rooms designed with video collection and streaming capabilities, two digital radiology suites, and custom-built recovery beds for 24-hour attended overnight hospitalization of their patients. VetSurg has built the new center with the patient’s safety and optimal care and comfort in mind.
